PRO’s Weekly Report – 9th June 2014

 

OPEN STROKEPLAY.

We held our annual Open Strokeplay from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th. Play commenced on Fri morning and continued until last card at 5pm on Sunday evening and we had a steady stream of players right across the weekend. We were very lucky with the weather as we only got a couple of heavy showers otherwise it was quite nice and warm. There were almost 400 cards played over the three days.

Thanks to all who helped out over the weekend. To the Ladies who were kept busy in the kitchen, to all who worked on the desk and especially to  Martin Carter, John Browne, Larry McGinn and Steven Ruane who totted up and verified all the cards before prizes were awarded. Thanks to Colm & Sean and the Buckley brothers who worked on the course in the lead up to and over the weekend of the competition. Thanks to Davy Corcoran from the Lough Owel club who loaned us a greens mower for the weekend. Once again it was a successful weekend and thanks to all who attended and made it so.

QUALIFIERS FOR LEINSTER GENTS STROKEPLAY takes place in Collinstown on Sunday 22nd June.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

Unfortunately this competition was cancelled on Weds evening last as a mark of respect to the Nolan family on  their sad bereavement but it will continue on this coming Weds at the usual time. The draw for the Paddy Bardon Shield will be made on Weds evening also .

SYMPATHY.

We send the deepest sympathies of all the club members to the Nolan family on the very sad and untimely death of Feichin last week. To his heartbroken wife Phil, sons Peter, Robbie, Gary, his daughters in law ,brothers, sister  and a large circle of friends we offer our  condolences. We also sympathise with the Bartley family of Ranaghan on the death of Joe and also to the Boland family, Lakeview on the sudden death of Jim last week.   Ar dheis laimh De go raibh a hanamnach dilis.
