PRO’s Weekly Report – 2nd June 2014
NATIONAL MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS.
We wish the best of luck to Michael Buckley, Liam Buckley & John Browne who are contesting the above championships at Parteen Co. Limerick over the weekend.
WESTMEATH STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The above was held on the very well manicured Collinstown course on Sunday last the 25th May. We had two winners and a runner up. Gary Middleton won the Inter Grade while the winner in the Junior grade was our own David Penrose. In the senior grade there was a 9 hole play off between defending champion Pat Malone from the Custume club and our own clubman Rene Bloem. Rene had to be satisfied with runner up spot as Pat was bang on form and ran out an easy winner.
It was a great day’s pitch and putt. The course was in wonderful condition thanks to Sean & Colm and anyone who was responsible in having it in tip top shape. Thanks to Mary & Moira who looked after the kitchen end of things.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
The above competition continues on Wednesday evenings and is attracting good crowds.
GAVIGAN CUP.
The draw for the above matchplay competition was made on Weds. evening last and draw is posted in the clubhouse.
OPEN STROKEPLAY.
Our annual Open Strokeplay commences on Friday next the 6th June at 9am and will continue until Sunday evening the 8th June. We hope for a good turnout at same and hope the weather will be fine.
MEETING.
Our monthly meeting will be held on Tue. next the 3rd June at usual time.
