PRO’s Weekly Report – 14th April 2014

 

SEAN COYNE MEMORIAL TROPHY.

On Sunday last the 13th the second leg of the above competition was held in Gaeil Colmcille in Kells. There was a good turnout at same, particularly from the host team.  The course was in good condition for the time of the year and thanks to Johnny and his groundsmen for their work.

Thanks to the ladies under the stewardship of Mary Farrell for their wonderful culinary fare.   It was fabulous.

Both Alan Hanlon, Captain of Collinstown team, spoke as did Michael Connell , on behalf of the Kells team. This competition has been running for a number of years now and the proceeds go to the Diabetes Association of Ireland and this year it was the turn of the Meath branch and Kitty Collier accepted  €520 was raised over the two days, on behalf of same. She said they were delighted to get same and that it would go a long way to help people suffering from  Diabetes. It also helps to keep the memory of Sean Coyne, who was a great pitch & putt man both on the playing side & in administration, alive and in our midst. He was a member of both clubs.

PRESIDENTS PRIZE.

Next weekend sees the above competition take place. Play commences on Friday at 2pm and will continue on Saturday and Sunday  when last card will be 5pm. We hope for a big turnout at same  to honour our esteemed President Larry McGinn.  It is a re entry competition which means members can play as many rounds as they wish over the  weekend.

SYMPATHY.

Finally we sympathise with Michael Flynn and his family and extended family on the death of his father Tom last week.   Ar dheis laimh De a anam dilis.
