PRO’s Weekly Report – 12th August 2013
LEINSTER INTER-COUNTIES.
On Sunday last the 11th, the above competition was held in Cement in Drogheda. There were 10 teams in the Gents section. The winners were the host team of Louth with R/Up spot going to Dublin and in the Bronze Medal position was our own Westmeath Team. The team comprised of 5 Collinstown men plus the Team Manager. The personnel were Michael Buckley (Capt), Liam Buckley, John Browne, Alan Hanlon, Rene Jan Bloem and Martin Carter (Manager). The other team member was Pat Malone from the Custume club and the 2 subs were Ronan Whelan & Niall Cuffe.
The winners of the Ladies section were Kildare, R/Up Dublin and in Bronze Medal position were our near neighbours Offaly. Unfortunately we had no Westmeath Team this year which was a pity. Well done to the winners. It was a great day and Cement course was in great nick.
DES McMANUS CUP.
On Weds. evening last the 7th the above competition was played. There were 18 competitors taking part. It was a lovely evening for the game and the course was in great order. Thanks to the workmen Colm & Sean and anyone else who helped out on the course. The following were the results of same: Winner with a great score of 20 under par was Alan Hanlon. R/Up was Darren Reilly and the winner of the Ladies prize was Anne Kelly.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
The 10th week of the above competition was played on the 31st July and the top four in the Men’s section are Michael Buckley (76), John Browne (68), Steven Ruane (64) and Alan Hanlon (61). In the Ladies section the top 2 are Ena Clinton (65) and Anne Kelly 61.
On Weds. next the 14th we have the Tommy Greville Cup with a 6 pm. start. On the following evening Thurs 15th we have the final of the club Doubles and the competitors are John Browne & Gary Middleton – v- Martin Carter & Michael Scally. We wish both pairings the best of luck.
OPEN STROKEPLAY.
The above competition commences on Friday the 16th and continues until Sunday evening the 18th at 5 pm. We hope for a good turnout at same.
CAPTAINS WEEKEND.
On the following weekend Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August we have our Captains weekend. Our 2 Captains this year are Kathleen Bray & Watty Kenny. We urge all our members to come along and support our Captains on their weekend,. Its always a great weekend.
