Gary Middleton wins the Inter Prize at Kilbeggan Scratch Cup

Gary Middleton continued his excellent start to 2014 last Sunday by winning the Intermediate Prize in the prestigious Kilbeggan Scratch Cup. Gary has been playing superb Pitch & Putt over the last 18 months and its widely agreed that its only a matter of time before he eventually joins the senior ranks of the game.

103 competitors braved the elements to play ‘The Lawn’ last Sunday and as always the standard was high. Gary recorded an excellent 96 to not only claim the Intermediate prize but to also qualify for his first final round at a scratch cup. He showed his growing maturity in the game by shooting a solid 51 in the final round and was visibly delighted with his day’s play.

Stephen Ruane also played well on the day and was just pipped by a shot by his club-mate for the Inter prize as Stephen finished on 11 under – also qualifying for the final round. Ian Donnelly from Cement won the prestigious Paddy Carton cup with a tremendous total of 30 under par. This total included a course record breaking second round of 41.

A good representation of Collinstown members took part but no-one else figured in the prizes. Kilbeggan as always was presented in excellent condition and the Ladies looked after all visitors as far as fabulous grub was concerned.
