Alliance In Lough Owel

Last Sunday saw the opening Winter Alliance of 2014. Lough Owel was the venue and a new format of a two-ball scramble was the order of the day.  51 players took to their respect tee-boxes at 11.30 sharp and new competition secretary, Davy Corcoran gave the signal for play to begin. The weather was perfect for Pitch & Putt with the sun shining and not a breath of wind. Anyone that knows Lough Owel though will know that fine weather does not make this monster of a course any easier. However the fine weather did make the day’s play enjoyable to all involved.

Collinstown had good success with five of our members picking up prizes.  Brothers Gary and Damien Middleton picked up the runners-up prize in the 36 nett. Alan Hanlon paired up with Lough Owel’s Dessie Baker to take the 36 gross with a fantastic score of 22 under par. The father and son partnership of Paddy and John Browne were pipped for the gross by a shot but did pick up the gross runners-up prize.

Full results of the day were as follows:

36 Nett Winners: Darren Creevy & Keith Hope (Lough Owel)
36 Gross Winners: Dessie Baker (Lough Owel) & Alan Hanlon (Collinstown)
36 Nett Runners-up:   Gary Middleton & Damien Middleton (Collinstown)
36 Gross Runners-up: Paddy Browne (Collinstown) & John Browne (Collinstown)
36 Nett Mixed:  Joan Harte & John Joyce ( Custume)
Raffle Winners: James Gill & Declan Penrose
