Alliance in Collinstown

Last Sunday saw the latest Winter Alliance of 2014. Kilbeggan was the scheduled venue but unfortunately due to the continuing bad weather, ‘The Lawn’ was unable to host the event. Collinstown had a late course inspection and chairman Michael Buckley deemed that the north Westmeath course fit for play so they stepped into the breach. Indeed the course was presented in superb condition for the time of year. Couple this with a few hours of treasured sunshine, resulted in a very enjoyable day’s Pitch & Putt for the 57 competitors.

Collinstown again had some success with four of our members picking up prizes.  Michael Scally and Mark Foran won the 36 nett competition with a superb score of 68. This was Mark’s first win in a competition outside of Collinstown’s club competitions so it was an extra special win for him. His luck was in when his name was also drawn out for a prize in the customary free raffle at the end of the day. Husband and wife, Martin and Mary Carroll were victorious in the mixed competition shooting a very impressive 78.

The next alliance is on Sunday next, 23rd February in Rochfortbridge. Tee-off is at 11.00am sharp with registration closing at 10.45am.

Full results of the day were as follows:

36 Nett Runners-up:   Bomber Prendergast & Tommy Naughton (Custume) 69 (break of tie)
